Domestic Violence - The Mask

CNN has a story out on "The Mask" women who suffered from Domestic Violence in Afghanistan actually don a mask, for a TV show, so they can tell their stories of abuse. A panel of experts then tries to make sense of it.

The shame attached with Domestic Violence rightly deserves to be with the offender, but as in many places in today's society, those with the power will use whatever means are necessary to keep their evil secrets.

I find the parallel to Wiki Leaks interesting. When the founder was put in jail, he was in the same cell as playwright Oscar Wilde.   Wilde was....someone who spoke out against power. One of his great quotes was "give a man a mask and he will tell you the truth".

Today so much of our "worth" appears to be in our identities....and we can't speak outside of the appearances about how wrong some things in this world are.

We must listen to those "behind the mask" and work to change these evil practices.  The story and video are here.
